The brain-child of our Board Member Patrick Burger, this is one of our most successful events!

Participants experience the creative impulse that Writing in 150 gives — so many writers in the past have commented how the atmosphere and the time limit are really inspiring and have helped them produce some of their best work!

This writing competition is open to Published and Non-Published writers. They may write in one of four genres: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Poetry/Spoken Word and Songwriting. Everyone has 150 minutes — 2 1/2 hours — to complete a maximum of 1000 word written piece based on a Prompt Word.

All Fiction, Non-Fiction and Poetry/Spoken Word participants write on their own laptops at the competition place. Song-writing contestants work at home until the end of the competition. At the end of the 150 minutes, all participant gather together and share their work, before the judges announce the winners in each category. The public is invited to attend this portion of the event.
